Patagonia FAQ’s

  • We really do have something for everyone. The W Trek consists of 3 full-day excursions but you can opt for 1/2 day excursions if you want to enjoy the luxury hotel setting. Each day, you can decide on Two half day excursions or one full day excursion. Besides the W Trek, here is a list of possibilities:

    1/2 Day Excursions:

    • Sierra Baguales (amazing views of the Torres del Paine mountain range and common to see wildlife such as eagles, condors, guanaco, sheep, foxes and ñandú (a type of ostrich). Maybe even a puma if you are lucky.

    • Blue Lagoon – Cañadón 

    • Hunter’s Trail (one of the best opportunities to spot the elusive puma or other wildlife such as guanacos, foxes and condors.

    • Cuernos Viewpoint 

    • Bike Riding

    • Horseback Riding

    Alternative Full Day Excursions:

    • D’Agostini Pass

    • Grey Glacier Cruise

  • April is the end of fall season in Patagonia and you can expect stunning colors.

    Weather in Patagonia is known for being unpredictable and extreme, with rapid changes throughout the day.

    We are visiting during the shoulder season and April is a beautiful time to visit Torres del Paine. The native lenga trees are covered in shades of red, orange and yellow, and the mountains are dusted with a bit more snow. By April, the days are calm and the fall colors come to life. Average temperature sits pleasantly around 13°C / 55°F.

  • We will provide location specific packing lists for each of our events.

  • ASAP but please connect with our team first so that we can confirm that your desired flights will work.

    All participants should arrive into Santiago (SCL) by Saturday afternoon (day 1 of the trip) and plan their return flight from Santiago for the evening of Friday (last day of the trip) or later.

    Flights to Puerto Natales (PNT) should be scheduled for Sunday (Day 2 of the trip). Return flights from PNT to SCL should be scheduled for Friday (last day of the trip).

  • Completely up to you. Stay together or reconnect over a glass of wine in the evening. We have excursions to suite all interests and abilities. Hike, bike, horseback ride, go on a wildlife safari, paint, enjoy a glacier voyage, go puma spotting… We have so many options.

    Or simply enjoy our luxury accommodation with spa treatments, indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, yoga, and more!


General FAQ’s

  • All of our events have minimum capacity requirements to ensure the financial viability of the experience. In the event that these minimum capacities are not met, Gritara Travel reserves the right to cancel the trip.

    Should this occur, customers will be contacted via email and all payments will be refunded or deferred to a future trip, based on customer preference.

  • Due to the remote nature of our destinations, we have a strict cancellation policy. We strongly recommend participants purchase a travel insurance policy to cover "cancellation for any reason" and medical care.

    Refunds requested more than 6 months from the first day of the event will be issued a 100% refund.

    Refund requests made more than 6 months from the first day of the event date will be issued a refund less the $995 non-refundable per person deposit. 

    Refunds requested between 180 days and 120 days from the first day of the event dates will be issued a refund of 50% of the total event fee.

    Unfortunately, our partners have strict refund policies and it is therefore not possible for us to provide refunds if the request is made within 120 days of the event start date, with no exceptions. 

    All refunds will be returned to the original form of payment used at the time of registration.

  • +6 Months Prior to Arrival: $995 Deposit

    6 Months Prior to Arrival: 50% of total cost

    5 Months Prior to Arrival: 75% of total cost

    4 Months Prior to Arrival: 100% of total cost

  • The minimum age at our events is 18 years old.

  • Our events are designed to be small and intimate experiences, to foster new friendships and a well-connected community. We expect to have a maximum of 20 participants.
